I never knew how much I absolutely would cherish my interview with Kelly Houseman, the charitable winner of Jewel's Not Alone Challenge for the Inspiring Children Foundation. As a proud Detroit resident, we discuss the mental health/opioid crisis, Flint's water crisis, and how you can rebuild with strength in community. A fellow mother who understands the hardships of finding balance with family and work, Kelly helps me learn so much more about myself and how we can grow with a little help from our own community.
Kelly Houseman LPC, NCC is a licensed therapist and mental health advocate, public speaker, blogger, podcast host, and wellness expert based in the Metro-Detroit area.
Kelly has spent her career advocating for reducing the stigma surrounding mental health issues while bringing her unique insight and humor to current topics - from social media to global pandemics. Autism. A subject very sensitive to not only the world but specifically me. Having multiple family members who live with Spectrum Disorders, it's my passion to find out the newest research and developments out there. David Haggerty helps me tackle an article I read about the similarities behind Spectrum Disorders and Bipolar Disorder. Could the cure be the same medicine, Lamictal, that I was on before I became pregnant? Let's learn about this and more on today's episode.
