Welcome back Dr Alyssa Berlin!! One year and one baby later, Alysa joins me to talk all things postpartum, mental health awareness and her new cook book!!! Dr. Alyssa Berlin is a renowned psychologist with expertise in mental health, as well as a self-taught chef and recipe developer with over two decades of experience. She  combines her knowledge of the therapeutic properties of food with her passion for cooking to create easy-to-make recipes that promote physical and mental well-being. She loves to push the boundaries with flavors and express her creativity through food presentation. With four children with diverse dietary needs, Dr. Alyssa is adept at crafting meals that cater to a range of tastes. She believes that the kitchen is a place to relax and enjoy oneself while cooking and works to help her audience de-stress the cooking and entertaining process. Dr. Alyssa's young son followed in her footsteps and started his own food podcast at age ten. Émilie Macas is an integrative Reiki teacher with a particular focus on emotional healing, as she holds a trauma counselling certification. Émilie is a Chopra Meditation teacher, a mindfulness educator, an author, a public speaker, and a mental health and wellness advocate. Émilie has worked for decades treating some of society’s most vulnerable, attending to children, people struggling with burnout, stress, and lack of general well-being. 
 
Émilie teaches self-care, alignment, and healing through embracing vulnerability, adopting a spirit of raw truthfulness, releasing fears, and finding acceptance for the things that cannot be changed. She helps people find their way back to their genuine passion, vitality, and joie de vivre through honest introspection and dedication.

I never knew how much I absolutely would cherish my interview with Kelly Houseman, the charitable winner of Jewel's Not Alone Challenge for the Inspiring Children Foundation. As a proud Detroit resident, we discuss the mental health/opioid crisis, Flint's water crisis, and how you can rebuild with strength in community. A fellow mother who understands the hardships of finding balance with family and work, Kelly helps me learn so much more about myself and how we can grow with a little help from our own community.  
Kelly Houseman LPC, NCC is a licensed therapist and mental health advocate, public speaker, blogger, podcast host, and wellness expert based in the Metro-Detroit area.
Kelly has spent her career advocating for reducing the stigma surrounding mental health issues while bringing her unique insight and humor to current topics - from social media to global pandemics. Her platforms include her blog, popular social media platforms, and podcast. Kelly’s expertise has been featured on television, radio, and print including ABC, People Magazine, and Fox.
Outside of her professional career, Kelly is a dedicated wife and mother to two young children. She takes pride in balancing her professional and personal life while giving others advice on how to do the same while being real and authentic in their journey.

Alexandra Hewett is an actor, storyteller, writer, producer, teaching artist, mother, and yogi. Her memoir, Shimmer, chronicles growing up in the shadow of my mother’s suicide attempt, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer’s disease, my father’s incredible devotion to her. From there it delves into marriage, divorce, motherhood, childbirth, being badass and single, being a mermaid, dealing with grief, loss, an eating disorder, and anxiety with lots of therapy, while finding glimmers of hope through creativity. Alexandra is also a lecturer in the Johns Hopkins University Odyssey program where she teaches Finding the Funny: Comedy Writing and Performance. She produces the storytelling show Mortified in DC and Baltimore. She teaches theatre to Veterans at Chesapeake Shakespeare Company. She wrote and performed her one-woman show Mother Therapy at MCS Theatre in NYC. She has performed at The Manhattan Rep Theatre, DC Fringe Festival, the Kennedy Center, the Baltimore Improv Group, the Magnet Theatre in NYC, and the Strand Theater in Baltimore. She has an MS in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University Maryland and an MFA in Creative Writing & Publishing Arts from the University of Baltimore. Her essays have been published by Eight Stone Press, Baltimore Fishbowl, and Welter.
